The right to the truth as a tool for peacebuilding. International dialogue based on Colombia’s experience. Proceedings of the 2022 summer course

This document brings together the presentations and discussions that took place during the summer course ‘The Right to the Truth as a Tool for Peacebuilding. International dialogue based on the experience of Colombia, organised by the Hegoa Institute of the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) and the Basque Government’s Directorate for Human Rights, Victims and Diversity, in collaboration with the UPV/EHU Summer Courses Foundation and BBK Obra Social.

The course, inspired by the process of supporting the Commission for the Clarification of the Truth, Coexistence and Non-Repetition in Colombia (CEV) in Europe, took place in person on 7 and 8 September 2022 at the Miramar Palace in Donostia/San Sebastián, in the form of panel discussions, with the participation of local and international speakers and attended by over 90 people from the Basque Country, mainland Spain and other European countries.

This publication contains, first of all, summaries of the profiles of the speakers and moderators, followed by the opening remarks for the course. Next, the contents of each of the panels are presented, including some of the contributions from attendees that enriched the thematic categories. Finally, key ideas are summarised and the bibliography referenced during the presentations is listed.
