Territories for life. Phase II.

territorios para la vida

Territories for Life – Phase II – Community Action: Promoting critical dialogue and raising awareness for human wellbeing, environmental sustainability and social cohesion’ is a project carried out in partnership with Gernikatik Mundura, funded by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.

The project falls within the field of Education for Social Transformation and is based on a critical analysis of the so-called ‘capital–life conflicts’, understood as manifestations of a capitalist, heteropatriarchal and colonial political-economic model that prioritises economic growth over the sustainability of life, thereby exacerbating social inequalities, environmental degradation and tensions within territories.

BACKGROUND

(2022-2023)

The project Territories in Conflict of Gernika Gogoratuz in consortium with Gernikatik Mundura to promote a process of research, training, action and advocacy in relation to the impact that the hegemonic neoliberal and patriarchal model, and its main agents, the transnational companies, have on the territories (two phases 2018-2019 / 2020-2021).

(2022-2023)

GEREIZPETATIK 11 IZPI

(2022-2023)

In addition, the project ‘Gereizpetatik 11 Izpi: Empowered voices in action collectively weaving life alternatives’ is being launched by Gernikatik Mundura in consortium with Gernika Gogoratuz, focusing its actions on two territories, Cajamarca and Urdaibai (two phases 2020-2022 / 2022-2024).

TERRITORIES FOR LIFE. PHASE I. (2023-2024)

In partnership with Gernikatik Mundura, the project helps to foster a critical and mobilising awareness of the impact of neoliberal capitalist policies, heteropatriarchy and racism, through the exchange of knowledge across different contexts and the production of educational materials for the local-global development of territories that are sustainable with life and nature (first phase 2023–2024) .

TERRITORIES FOR LIFE. PHASE II. (2025-2026)

Its aim is to contribute to a sustainable future in Busturialdea-Urdaibai by promoting a culture of multi-stakeholder and multi-level dialogue and strengthening local governance as tools for managing conflicts and collectively building a territory that places life and the care of nature at its centre.

Within this framework, the project seeks to:
• Empower local social and community actors so that they can influence public debates on the future of the region.
• Promote spaces for dialogue and partnerships between diverse actors at different levels, integrating local perspectives and global dynamics.
• To produce and disseminate critical and proactive knowledge that contributes to imagining and building alternative ways of inhabiting the territory, with the sustainability of life and the planet at the centre.
