María Oianguren, director of Gernika Gogoratuz, has published the article ‘Educating for peace: critical thinking, local responsibility and global commitment’ in the report ‘Building trust in the face of hate: an international framework for peace education and its application in the Basque Country’, presented by UN Etxea.

The publication provides an up-to-date review of the main international developments in Education for Peace and their relationship with the Basque education system.

It brings together contributions from experts at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and UNESCO, as well as from local specialists in peace education and human rights. As a result, the publication integrates global approaches, international case studies, and local experiences, illustrating how education can help build more just, inclusive, and hate free societies.
