17TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CULTURE, COMMUNICATION AND DEVELOPMENT

María Oianguren, director of Gernika Gogoratuz, is taking part in the discussion session “Historical memory as a strategy for reparation and non-repetition” as part of the EHU 2026 summer course, which is being held on 1 and 2 June at the Bizkaia Aretoa – EHU.

The panel comprises Sebastián Escobar Uribe, president of the José Alvear Restrepo Lawyers’ Collective (CAJAR), and Denise Géraldine Brunet, director of the Equipo Maíz Association.
The discussion will be moderated by Ainara Larrondo, journalist and head of the Gureiker group (EHU).

This year’s edition, “Challenges and strategies for the defence of human rights in times of criminalisation and repression”, will address the current context of democratic regression and human rights violations, both globally and locally, with a particular focus on the situation of human rights defenders.
