Approaches to supporting processes and consolidating narratives on the sustainability of life.

The Gernika Gogoratuz Peace Research Centre incorporates a dimension of critical thinking about alternative futures into its work on memory, peace and conflict, applying this to its analysis of social reality. To speak of peace is also to help create life choices. And this is the aim of this publication: to present frameworks for action that promote the consolidation of peace.

This work brings together various proposals that have helped to shed light on economic, social, cultural and environmental issues and to build alternative ways of life that emerge from the territories themselves: Urdaibai (Basque Country), Cabo Delgado (Mozambique), Tolima and Caquetá (Colombia). These proposals are based on five approaches: collective capacities, feminist ecologies of knowledge, territorial spatiality, a conflict-sensitive approach, and art for peace. It is no small challenge to delve deeper into the knowledge and practices of processes with a collective dimension that enable the articulation of the communal and the institutional, whilst confronting mistrust, discouragement and statism in order to conceive of conflict and the future as spaces of creativity and potential.
