Award for efforts promoting Peace Culture – Elche Town Council

The Department of Development Cooperation of the Elche Town Council has awarded Gernika Gogoratuz an award for their work promoting Peace Culture in the sphere of historical memory.

The gala, which commemorates the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, took place on the 16th December in the Elche Conference Centre and involved a speech by Maria Oianguren, director of Gernika Gogoratuz.

During the gala, a recording of the “Visit Guernica” campaign was played, relaying the horrors of the 1937 bombing and its consequences, as well as the bravery of the inhabitants in constructing a new future based on reconciliation and peace culture.
