GERNIKA GOGORATUZ CELEBRATES WITH AIPAZ, 25 YEARS BUILDING A CULTURE OF PEACE

Gernika Gogoratuz is taking part in the annual Aipaz Conference with a delegation made up of María Oianguren Idigoras, director of the centre, Jokin Alberdi Bidaguren, president, Andreas Schäfter, from European Programmes and Juan Gutierrez, founder and first director, in a special edition as it is the 25th anniversary of the association. The event will be held on 10 and 11 November in Zaragoza.

For the celebration, Aipaz has programmed the conference around the advances, setbacks and challenges that the Culture of Peace has experienced in the last 25 years with the aim of analysing, reflecting and elaborating proposals jointly on the peace agenda. As well as exchanging information on the work, research and activities being carried out by the different centres in order to promote collaboration between them.

María Oianguren Idigoras will participate, on the 11th, in the Round Table: Is Spanish society now less peaceful? Changes in complex and plural societies. Proposals for a pacifist society together with Jesús Núñez Villaverde (IECAH), Javier Murillo Torrecilla (DEMOSPAZ-UAM) and Juan Manuel Jiménez Arenas (Institute of Peace and Conflicts of the University of Granada). The round table will be moderated by María Jesús Luna Serreta, Director of the Fundación Seminario de Investigación para la Paz (Fundación SIP).

Jokin Alberdi Bidaguren, for his part, will moderate the Meeting of the Aipaz centres “25 years working together for just, peaceful and inclusive societies”, also on the 11th. And Juan Gutierrez will be at the institutional ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Aipaz together with the founders and foundresses of Aipaz: Carmen Magallón Portolés (Zaragoza Peace Research Seminar), Martín Rodríguez Rojo (University of Valladolid), Jesús Sánchez Cazorla (Institute of Peace and Conflict, University of Granada) and José Tuvilla Rayo.
