‘Territories in Conflict’: Lessons for building alternative ways of life. Jokin Alberdi and María Oianguren. 2023

This paper presents the theoretical and methodological framework of the ‘Territories in Conflict’ project, drawing on critical approaches to peacebuilding.

  • Firstly, a brief reference is made to the critical dimension of the post-liberal peace agenda.
  • Secondly, the local dimension is addressed, emphasising the relevance of territory as a framework for analysis and highlighting the focus on the capacities of individuals and communities and the implementation of their initiatives for social change that impact the context in which they live.
  • And, thirdly, the lessons learnt throughout the project are highlighted, inspired by a basic premise: contributing to the creation of options for a dignified, just and sustainable life also promotes peace-building processes.
