CALLS FOR PROPOSALS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE XV INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S WORLDS CONGRESS: WOMEN* AND PEACES

After two years of the collective process in the “Seedbed. Women for Peace” project, the International Congress of Women’s Worlds (MM26) announces its 15th edition, which will be held from May 20 to 24, 2026, in Euskal Herria-Basque Country, under the slogan Women* and Peaces. At a time characterized by securitization and the rise of war narratives, this event will gather participants from around the world in Gernika-Lumo and Bilbao. The Congress will reaffirm the power of women* coming together to think, imagine, and cultivate new forms of peace.

This edition stems from a two-year process of collaborative work among organizations belonging to social movements in Euskal Herria, Colombia, and Mozambique, aimed at building peace from everyday life. Through local seedbeds in the three territories, agents, collectives, grassroots organizations, and individuals engaged in a culture of peace across diverse practices and fields were identified and brought together.

The organization is led by Gernika Gogoratuz and Gernikatik Mundura, based on this broad collaborative process with organizations from the three territories.

The call for proposals is open from November 17 until February 1, 2026. The invitation is open to women*, collectives, grassroots organizations, activists, researchers, students, artists, and communities from around the world. The terms of reference are available in several languages on the website of the congress mm26.org.

The registration period for attendees who wish to participate without submitting a proposal will open on 1 February 2026. All the latest information will be posted on the congress website and social media accounts.
