El marco de partida

Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, through its Department for Coexistence and Diversity, is organising this conference on Human Rights in the 21st-Century City, to mark the 20th anniversary of the signing of the European Charter on Human Rights in the City.

With our sights set on the 21st century, against a backdrop of globalisation, increasing urbanisation and social divisions, climate change and the lingering effects of a pandemic, cities take on particular significance when it comes to tackling these challenges in everyday life, at a local and community level.

Having completed the first phase of the first Coexistence and Diversity Plan (2018–2020), Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council is organising this day of learning and reflection with the aim of generating input to enrich the development of the new Coexistence and Diversity Plan.
