XXXIV jornadas de cualtura y paz de gernika

Organised in collaboration with the Town Council of Gernika-Lumo on the commemorative dates of the 87th anniversary of the bombing of Gernika. 2024 April 19th, 24th, 25th and 26th.

The 34th International Conference on Culture and Peace of Gernika opens a space for a dialogue on methodological contributions which contribute to imagine other ways of inhabiting the territories and allow the construction of dignified, fair and sustainable futures.
Within this framework, the Gernika Gogoratuz’ research projects that are being developed in alliance with local teams in three territories are presented: Basque Country, Colombia and Mozambique.

18:00-19:00: LONG-TERM ECONOMIC AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT FOR BUSTURIALDEA (2024-2034).

The work presented emphasizes the need for economic planning in the Busturialdea (Urdaibai) region. It proposes measures that prioritize sustainability, economic development, innovation, employment and training, social welfare and culture, education, and identity over the next 10, 4, and 2 years. The paper concludes by recommending a governance model that promotes positive institutional and social governance dialogue to propel the region forward.

The organization is a unique entity in Palestine that brings together former combatants from diverse political, religious, and social backgrounds who have renounced violence. This includes both men and women from Israel and Palestine who have pledged to lay down their arms. The organization was initially founded in 2006 and formally established in 2014.

COMBATANTS FOR PEACE 

This organization established in 2006 is a voluntary group of ex-combatants from Israel and Palestine, working together to promote peace through non-violent means. They aim to end the Israeli occupation in occupied territories and promote a just solution for a peaceful coexistence. Their approach is rooted in non-violence and conflict resolution, which they believe can create lasting peace through mutual respect, dialogue, and understanding. oexistence.

THE JUST OF THE MEDITERRANEAN FOR THE HUMANITARIAN MARITIME RESCUE OF MIGRANTS

Just of the Mediterranean is a 2018 Nobel Peace Prize nominee, comprised of 53 humanitarian organizations and individuals such as Stratis Valamios, Thanassis, and Aimilia Kamvisi, who bravely saved individuals fleeing conflict.

PARTICIPANTES

  • Kepa Fernández de Larrinoa. Antropólogo dedicado al estudio de la performatividad cultural. El grueso de su trabajo es etnográfico, sobre todo enfocado a desgranar la riqueza de significados e idiosincrasias inscritos en los comportamientos rituales y artes escénicas de raíz popular e indígena. Es autor de ensayos como, por ejemplo: Mujer, ritual y fiesta: género, antropología y teatro de carnaval en el valle de Soule (Premio Becerro de Bengoa de Ensayo, Diputación Foral de Álava, 1994); Del delito cultural (Certeza, 2013)
    Recientemente, ha diseñado «Antonin Artaud NeuroAntropología Studio» lugar dado a la experimentación conceptual, verbal, corporal y artística a partir del examen de la vida y obra del poeta y dramaturgo francés Antonin Artaud.
  • Roldán Jimeno Aranguren. Catedrático de Historia del Derecho de la Universidad Pública de Navarra, y, en la actualidad, Secretario General de esta Universidad. Licenciado en Historia y en Derecho, y Doctor en Historia, en Filosofía y Ciencias de la Educación (Antropología), y en Derecho. Autor de una veintena de libros, posee dos centenares de artículos en revistas especializadas y en obras colectivas. Una de sus principales líneas de investigación es la memoria histórica y la justicia transicional, de la que destacamos sus libros destacamos sus libros Miguel Javier Urmeneta (1915-1988). Segunda República, Franquismo y Transición (Pamiela, 2015), y Amnesties, pardons and transitional justice: Spain’s Pact of Forgetting (Routledge, 2018); y, entre sus múltiples artículos y capítulos de libro, su reciente trabajo publicado junto con Paloma Aguilar, “De la ‘memoria histórica’ a la ‘memoria democrática’. La evolución de las políticas públicas de memoria y justicia transicional en España”, Informe sobre la democracia en España 2022. El largo plazo (Fundación Alternativas, 2023, pp. 67-104).

PROYECTOS

  • Memorias para la vida“, en colaboración con la Fundación Escuelas de Paz de Colombia, propone un enfoque metodológico para la recuperación de la memoria que contribuya a la consolidación de culturas de paz en sociedades atravesadas por situaciones de conflicto armado y violencia política.
  • Territorios para la vida“, en colaboración con Gernikatik Mundura, establece un marco de análisis y saberes prácticos que permitan contribuir a la construcción de alternativas de vida con enfoque ecosocial. A su vez, Gereizpetatik 11 Izpi, en castellano “Luces entre las sombras”, aborda una ampliación de la línea de investigación-acción-formación de Territorios en Conflicto en los territorios de Urdaibai y Cajamarca. En el proceso de investigar y analizar los impactos de distintos megaproyectos transnacionales que amenazan la capacidad decisoria sobre el futuro de los territorios, “Gereizpetatik 11 Izpi” pone el foco en las violencias de carácter interseccional que viven ciertos colectivos para promover la transformación hacia su erradicación.

Además, se puede visitar la arquitectura memorial de la villa: la Casa de Juntas, Árbol de Gernika, parque de los Pueblos de Europa y escultura de Henry Moore y Eduardo Chillida, Museo de la Paz de Gernika, Astra fábrica de creación social, refugios del bombardeo, réplica del “Guernica” de Picasso.
